Privacy Policy
Buildable is a hosted beta at app.buildable.work. Your projects are stored on our server and shown only to you unless you publish them. To design, we send your idea and design data to an AI model service under our account. Camera images never leave your browser.
What we handle and where it goes
| Information | Where it goes | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Your ideas, change requests and the designs made from them | Stored on our server, tied to an anonymous visitor ID (no account, no name, no email). Sent to the AI model service we use (currently OpenAI) under Buildable's account. | To generate and revise designs. The AI service's own terms and privacy policy apply to what it receives. |
| Design data: plans, part data, measurements and images of CAD checks | Stored on our server and sent to the same AI service. | So the AI can see what was built and fix it. |
| Simulation results (firmware runs, measurements, the virtual wearer's readings) | Computed and stored on our server with the project. | To show whether the design works and to let you turn it on. |
| Your network address | Seen by Cloudflare and our server for every request. For the daily allowance we store only a salted one-way hash of it, never the address itself. | To deliver the site, protect it from abuse and count the free daily builds. |
| Part searches (component names and specifications) | Sent to component distributors' catalog services (such as DigiKey or Nexar/Octopart) where configured. | To find real parts you can buy. Searches contain design terms, not personal details. |
| Order and quote requests (the contact you enter in "Make it for me") | Stored on our server and read by the Buildable team. | To answer your request. Ordering is a beta feature; nothing is charged here. |
| Camera images for Hand control and Try it on | Processed in your browser only. Not uploaded, not saved. | To track your hands, face or wrist frame by frame. |
| Tracking model files | Downloaded from Google's model storage the first time you use the camera features. Like any download, this shows Google your network address. | The browser needs these files to track hands and faces. |
Publishing to the community
Nothing is public until you choose Publish. Your projects are visible only to the browser that made them; a link to one does not open it for anyone else. When you publish a design, these become visible in the community gallery and on the design's page:
- the title, description and display name you enter (a nickname is fine);
- the 3D model and part list of the saved version you publish, and its working simulation, so others can turn it on;
- a picture of the design taken in the studio when you publish;
- your original idea text, only if you tick the box that shares it.
Your conversation, edit history, other versions, run logs and engine files are never published. Later edits stay private until you publish again. You can unpublish at any time; that removes the record and its picture.
Cookies, analytics and browser storage
- One cookie,
bv. A random visitor ID that keeps your projects yours and counts the daily allowance. It is HttpOnly, sent only over HTTPS and only to this site, and lasts a year. We store only a hash of it. Clearing it means the site can no longer find your earlier projects. - Cloudflare. The site is delivered through Cloudflare, which processes every request to protect and serve it, and runs privacy-focused web analytics (page views and loading performance, no advertising profiles and no cross-site tracking). Cloudflare's privacy policy applies to that processing.
- Browser storage. A few conveniences stay in your browser: an unsent idea you were typing, the display name you last published under, and whether you have confirmed the first-build notice.
- No advertising trackers.
How long we keep things
Projects stay on our server while the beta runs, so you can come back to them. The daily allowance counts are kept for the current day only. Published designs stay until you unpublish them. Ask us to delete your projects at any time (see below); during the beta we may also clear old unpublished projects, and we will say so on the site before we do.
What we do not do
- We do not sell or rent personal information.
- We do not show ads.
- We do not train AI models on your designs. The AI service we use has its own rules about the data it receives.
Your choices and rights
Unpublish to remove a design from the gallery; refuse or revoke camera access in your browser; clear the bv cookie to stop being recognised. Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete or move personal information we hold, and to object to some uses. Because we do not know who you are, tell us the project link (or open the site from the same browser) so we can find your projects. Write to . We will answer within the time the law requires.
Security
The site is served over HTTPS only. Each request is checked for where it comes from, and a project is readable only by the visitor that made it unless it is published. API keys for AI services stay on our server and are never sent to the browser.
Children
Buildable is not meant for children under 13, and people under 16 in the European Economic Area or the UK need a parent's or guardian's permission. Please do not publish personal information about yourself or anyone else.
Changes and contact
